Tomorrow’s Titans: David Hornik

Tell us about yourself.

I’ve been on the Dean’s List for eight semesters. I’m a team leader in my Marketing Capstone Class, which is working with the Summit County Historical Society. I’m also an
officer in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, managing alumni relations, scheduling events, and recording meeting notes. For the last three years, I’ve volunteered with the Akron Canton Food Bank and CORE Furniture Bank. I also work nearly full-time at Target as a closing expert, where I’m responsible for training new team members in every department.

I recently interned at Amazon in Etna, Ohio, where I managed a team of 150 associates, ensuring packages were shipped in a safe and timely manner. I also led a project that decreased defects by 87%, saving my facility more than $90k a year.

I enjoy working on cars in my free time with my triplet brother, Daniel. We are passionate about cars ranging from old American muscle cars to new Japanese sports cars.

What type of position or industry are you interested in?

I’m most interested in a marketing position or working in the automotive industry. I thrive in both areas and want to explore them as careers.

What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in five years?

I want to be somewhere doing meaningful work, whether through leading projects or managing teams. Someday, I hope to start a nonprofit focused on people with disabilities, as I have a brother with Cerebral Palsy. I want to offer better lives to those in need and their families, who sometimes struggle with the burden of caregiving.

What are your superpowers?

Positivity and focus. I always have a smile on my face and a positive attitude. No matter how rough situations get or how dire something may seem, I can always stay focused and accomplish the task at hand in a timely manner. I like to think I inspire a happy atmosphere wherever I go.
